The Early Stages
In 1961, Bryce D. Jewett, Sr. followed the dream that many people have and opened his own machine shop. He built a 4000 square foot building at the corner of 29th and Maury Streets in Richmond , VA. He used family labor to build the foundation - his teenage son Bryce, Jr.
Over the next two decades Bryce Sr. became known for two things: the quality of the products he manufactured and the fair way he treated people, both customers and employees.

The Next Generation
The business culture Bryce, Sr. fostered in the early years remains at the core of the business today although much has changed. Bryce grew up in the business and took control in 1981. The facility has expanded twice and now encompasses over 35,000 square feet.While Jewett still has a full complement of conventional equipment, state-of-the-art CNC equipment takes up most of the plant's floor space.
But the culture is still the same: commitment to quality in all work, and fairness to all people. Each employee is given every opportunity to achieve his or her full potential, and customers know they are important. Bryce's door is always open to both.
