Jewett specializes in close tolerance CNC machine work in a variety of materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, plastics and composite materials. Cast iron and aluminum castings are a specialty in low to medium volumes.
Swiss Screw Machine Products
Jewett performs small diameter, high volume swiss turning. We employ Swiss type automatic screw machines from Citizen and Tsugami with capacities up to 32mm. All machines are equipped with magazine bar loaders for high productivity and continuous operation.

Over 60 Years of Machining Excellence
In 1961, Bryce D. Jewett, Sr. followed a dream and opened his own machine shop. He built a 4,000 square foot building at the corner of Maury and 29th streets in Richmond, VA. He used family labor to build the foundation - his teenage son Bryce, Jr.
Over the next two decades Bryce Sr. became known for two things: the quality of the products he manufactured and the fair way he treated people, both customers and employees.
The business culture Bryce, Sr. fostered in the early years remains at the core of the business today although much has changed. Bryce, Jr. grew up in the business and took control in 1981. The facility has expanded three times and now encompasses over 35,000 square feet. While Jewett still has a full complement of conventional equipment, state-of-the-art CNC equipment now takes up most of the plant's floor space. In 2024, Bryce, Jr. tapped Jeff Burkett to lead the organization into the future and continue its track record of success.

State-of-the-Art Equipment
Jewett is capable of machining parts up to 80” long to precision tolerances on its vertical machining centers. Horizontal CNC milling can be done on parts as large as a 40” cube. Four-axis CNC milling is a specialty. Jewett has extensive experience machining iron, aluminum, and bronze castings to exacting tolerances and offers cylindrical and surface grinding, too.
