The Early Stages

In 1961, Bryce D. Jewett, Sr. followed the dream that many people have, but few are bold enough to undertake; He opened his own machine shop. He built a 4,000 square foot building at the corner of Maury and 29th streets in Richmond , VA. He used family labor to build the foundation - his teenage son Bryce, Jr.

Over the next two decades, Bryce Sr. became known for two things: the quality of the products he manufactured and the fair way he treated people, both customers and employees.

The Next Generation

The business culture Bryce, Sr. fostered in the early years remains at the core of the business today although much has changed. Bryce, Jr. grew up in the business and formally took over the company from his father in 1981. In 2024, after forty-plus years of leadership, Bryce tapped Jeff Burkett to lead the organization into the future.

And while the facility continues to expand and equipment and personnel grow, Jewett Machine continues to pursue its mission - to build an organization that enables its employees to thrive and grow, stewards its resources well, and partners with its customers and vendors with integrity for collective flourishing.
